MWMS Canon Authority Protocol

Document Type: Canon
Status: Canon
Version: v1.1
Authority: HeadOffice
Parent: Governance
Applies To: All MWMS Canon Pages
Last Reviewed: 2026-03-15

Purpose

The MWMS Canon Authority Protocol defines who is permitted to modify Canon documents and how Canon updates are approved.

The goal is to protect the stability of the MWMS system as it scales.

Canon defines the structural rules of MWMS.

If Canon becomes unstable, the entire system becomes unstable.

Scope

This canon applies to:

• all MWMS Canon pages
• approval and modification of Canon documents
• Canon session requirements
• versioning and change-log discipline
• authority boundaries around Canon editing

This document governs who may approve Canon changes and the conditions under which Canon may be modified.

It does not govern:

• operational page edits by themselves
• Brain-specific execution rules by themselves
• plugin or schema implementation by themselves
• day-to-day workflow decisions by themselves
• non-Canon draft environments by themselves

Those remain governed by HeadOffice, the MWMS Operating Guide, Brain-specific documents, and the relevant operational systems.

Definition / Rules

Canon Ownership

All Canon pages are owned by:

MWMS HeadOffice

No Brain, AI system, or operational unit may independently alter Canon.

Brains may propose Canon updates but may not enact them.

Canon Change Authority

Only the following authority may approve Canon changes:

HeadOffice

HeadOffice may:

• approve structural updates
• approve new Canon pages
• approve version changes
• approve architectural restructuring

All Canon changes must include a Change Log entry.

Canon Modification Rule

Canon pages may only be modified during a Canon Session.

Canon Sessions must follow the MWMS Operating Guide.

This ensures:

• structural review
• authority confirmation
• version tracking

Changes made outside a Canon Session are considered invalid until reviewed.

Canon Versioning Rule

Every Canon page must include:

• Status
• Version
• Authority
• Parent
• Last Reviewed

All changes must increment the version number.

Version history must be preserved via Change Logs.

Canon Change Log Rule

Every Canon update must include a Change Log entry using the standard format.

Mandatory fields:

• Date
• Page Affected
• Version Change
• Nature of Change
• Approved By

This ensures traceability across the system.

Canon Protection Principle

Canon exists to protect:

• system stability
• structural discipline
• authority boundaries

Canon must remain stable even when operational systems evolve rapidly.

Execution layers may change quickly.

Canon changes slowly and deliberately.

Governance Principle

MWMS operates under a clear hierarchy.

HeadOffice governs Canon.
Canon governs Brains.
Brains govern execution systems.
Execution systems do not alter Canon.

Structural Stability Principle

Stable systems scale.

Unstable systems collapse under complexity.

The Canon Authority Protocol ensures that MWMS remains structurally stable as the ecosystem expands.

Final Rule

No Canon page is validly changed merely because text was edited.

A Canon change is valid only when authority, session discipline, versioning, and change logging have all been satisfied.

Drift Protection

The system must prevent:

• Canon pages being edited outside a Canon Session
• Brains or AI systems altering Canon without HeadOffice approval
• version changes occurring without a corresponding Change Log entry
• structural rules being modified through convenience or urgency
• operational material being silently promoted into Canon
• unclear ownership weakening Canon stability

Canon authority must remain deliberate, centralised, and review-controlled.

Architectural Intent

MWMS Canon Authority Protocol exists to protect the constitutional layer of MWMS from uncontrolled modification.

Its role is to ensure that Canon evolves only through deliberate HeadOffice-approved change so the system can scale without losing structural stability, authority clarity, or governance integrity.
