MWMS AI Change Declaration Rule

Document Type: Standard
Status: Canon
Authority: HeadOffice
Applies To: All MWMS AI-assisted documentation updates, system architecture modifications, and canon changes
Parent: Governance
Version: v1.1

Purpose

This document defines the rule requiring all AI-assisted changes within MWMS to be explicitly declared.

Its purpose is to ensure that all modifications made with the assistance of AI systems are transparent, traceable, and reviewable.

Without formal change declaration, MWMS risks silent structural drift, undocumented modifications, and loss of architectural clarity.

This rule ensures that changes to MWMS documentation, canon pages, governance standards, and system architecture are visible at the time they are introduced.

Scope

This standard applies to:

• AI-assisted updates to MWMS documentation
• changes to canon pages
• changes to governance rules
• changes to architecture specifications
• structural updates proposed or delivered by AI systems

This rule governs how AI-declared changes must be described when content is updated.

It does not replace:

• formal change logs
• canon approval processes
• authority review requirements
• existing governance rules controlling escalation, refusal, or routing

Those remain governed by the wider MWMS governance framework.

Definition / Rules

Core Rule

When an AI system proposes or delivers a modification to any MWMS document, canon page, architecture specification, or governance rule, the AI must explicitly declare the change.

The declaration must describe:

• what was changed
• what section was affected
• whether authority boundaries were modified
• whether governance behaviour was altered

This declaration must occur before or alongside the updated content.

Silent modifications are not permitted.

Change Declaration Format

All declared changes must clearly state the nature of the modification.

Example:

Change Type: Structural Addition
Affected Page: Research Brain – Customer Interview Intelligence
Change Summary: Added Narrative Signal Classification system for structured customer language analysis.
Authority Impact: None – research analysis only.

This format ensures that MWMS system evolution remains visible and documented.

Change Types

AI systems must identify the type of change being made.

Common change types include:

Structural Addition
New section or capability added to an existing page.

Structural Modification
Existing system structure altered or reorganised.

Clarification Update
Language refined for clarity without altering system behaviour.

Governance Expansion
New governance rule or authority layer added.

Governance Constraint
New limitation introduced to preserve system discipline.

Canon Impact Declaration

If a change affects a canon page or governance rule, the AI must declare whether the change modifies:

• authority boundaries
• operational behaviour
• governance constraints
• system scope

If the change alters any canon authority or governance rule, the modification must be approved through the established canon change process.

Relationship to Change Logs

Change declarations do not replace the formal Change Log.

Instead, they ensure that changes are clearly described at the moment they are introduced.

The Change Log then serves as the permanent historical record of approved modifications.

Relationship to Other Governance Rules

The AI Change Declaration Rule operates alongside:

• AI Output Standard – Full File Delivery Rule
• AI Session Context Lock Rule
• Brain Routing Rule
• AI Escalation Rule
• AI Refusal Protocol
• How to Start a Session – MWMS Operating Guide

Together these rules establish a governed framework for AI participation in MWMS development and system evolution.

Drift Protection

The system must prevent:

• silent AI modifications
• undocumented governance changes
• unclear structural edits
• authority-impacting changes without declaration
• canon updates introduced without visible explanation

All AI-assisted structural change must be declared explicitly.

Architectural Intent

This rule exists to preserve traceability, governance integrity, and system clarity across MWMS.

It ensures AI participation strengthens documentation discipline rather than introducing hidden drift.

By forcing visible declaration at the point of change, MWMS maintains auditable system evolution.
