Purpose
The Ads Brain – Hook Intelligence Database records advertising hooks that have been tested across campaigns within the MWMS ecosystem.
Hooks are the most critical component of advertising performance because they determine whether a viewer continues watching the advertisement.
Weak hooks prevent audiences from ever reaching the core message of the ad.
This database exists to capture hook-level intelligence so that successful attention triggers can be reused and refined across campaigns.
Scope
This reference applies to:
• hook-level advertising intelligence
• attention-trigger performance history
• tested hook storage across campaigns
• hook-category pattern memory
• reusable opening-signal intelligence inside Ads Brain
This document governs the purpose and structure of the Hook Intelligence Database as a reusable hook-memory system.
It does not govern:
• hook-testing procedures by itself
• live campaign decisions by itself
• capital allocation approval
• experiment-launch authority
• final survivability authority
Those remain governed by Ads Brain protocols, Finance Brain, HeadOffice, and related systems.
Definition / Rules
Difference From Hook Testing Framework
Hook Testing Framework
Defines how hooks should be tested.
Hook Intelligence Database
Stores the results and observations from those tests.
Both systems work together to improve long-term creative performance.
Hook Definition
A hook is the opening element of an advertisement designed to capture attention and interrupt passive scrolling behaviour.
Hooks typically occur within the first few seconds of the advertisement.
Their purpose is not to sell the product but to encourage continued viewing.
Hook Categories
Ads Brain classifies hooks into several primary categories.
Pattern Interrupt
Structure:
Expected belief
↓
Unexpected contradiction
Purpose:
Break viewer expectations and trigger curiosity.
Hidden Mechanism
Structure:
Known problem
↓
Unknown cause revealed
Purpose:
Create curiosity through discovery.
Authority Hook
Structure:
Expert reference
↓
Unexpected insight
Purpose:
Borrow credibility to capture attention.
Contrarian Hook
Structure:
Popular belief
↓
Challenge to that belief
Purpose:
Create cognitive dissonance that encourages further viewing.
Demonstration Hook
Structure:
Visual demonstration
↓
Explanation
Purpose:
Allow viewers to see the concept rather than simply hear about it.
Identity Hook
Structure:
Audience identification
↓
Relevant problem
Purpose:
Create immediate personal relevance.
Urgency Hook
Structure:
Current event or condition
↓
Immediate implication
Purpose:
Create time-sensitive attention.
Hook Record Structure
Each hook entry should include:
• Hook ID
• Hook category
• Hook text or description
• Associated creative angle
• Platform used
• Campaign or offer context
• Observed engagement signals
• Observed conversion behaviour
• Outcome classification
• Notes and insights
Hook Outcome Classification
Each hook should be classified according to performance.
Possible classifications include:
• High Performing Hook
• Promising Hook
• Neutral Hook
• Weak Hook
• Failed Hook
Classification must be based on experiment outcomes recorded in:
Ads Brain – Experiment Registry
Relationship to Creative Testing Workflow
Hooks are designed during the creative-development stage of the Creative Testing Workflow.
Hook experiments are recorded in the Experiment Registry.
Results are preserved in the Hook Intelligence Database.
Relationship to Creative Pattern Library
Hooks determine how attention is captured.
Creative patterns determine how the rest of the advertisement unfolds.
Both systems contribute to effective advertising structures.
Relationship to Creative Intelligence Library
Creative Intelligence Library stores campaign-level learnings.
Hook Intelligence Database stores hook-level learnings.
Future Expansion
The Hook Intelligence Database may eventually support:
• hook performance scoring
• hook reuse recommendations
• niche-specific hook analysis
• platform-specific hook performance trends
Final Rule
Hooks must be documented.
If hook performance is not recorded, successful attention triggers are lost and ineffective hooks are repeated.
Ads Brain must maintain a cumulative database of attention mechanisms.
Drift Protection
The system must prevent:
• strong hooks being forgotten after campaign completion
• weak hooks being repeated because outcomes were not logged
• hook memory being merged vaguely into broader creative notes
• hook categories being stored without enough context for reuse
• database entries existing without experiment-linked evidence
Hook intelligence must remain structured, comparable, and cumulative.
Architectural Intent
Ads Brain – Hook Intelligence Database exists to preserve the opening attention mechanisms that drive advertising performance across campaigns.
Its role is to help Ads Brain build reusable memory around what captures attention, what fails early, and which hook types perform best by context, platform, and offer structure.
Change Log
Version: v1.2
Date: 2026-03-17
Author: MWMS HeadOffice
Change: Standardised page metadata and naming to align with the locked MWMS standards pack. Normalised Status from “Intelligence Database” to “Active”, standardised title usage to “Ads Brain – Hook Intelligence Database”, preserved the original hook database purpose, category taxonomy, record structure, relationship logic, and cumulative-attention-memory rule, and retained the document as a Reference under the locked MWMS document taxonomy.
Version: v1.1
Date: 2026-03-14
Author: MWMS HeadOffice / Ads Brain
Change: Rebuilt page to align with MWMS document standards. Added standardised document header, introduced Purpose / Scope / Definition / Rules structure, normalised hook-category and relationship sections, and preserved the original hook database purpose, category taxonomy, record structure, and cumulative-attention-memory logic.
